The Monticello Fire Department
is a combination department consisting of four professional
career firefighters and 65 professional volunteer
firefighters. The Monticello Fire Department was organized
in 1875. Our district consists of the Village of Monticello
and the Town of Thompson in Sullivan County, New York. We
are the busiest department in Sullivan County, averaging over
1000 calls per year. The Monticello Fire Department also
responds to all "life threatening" medical calls within our
district. Twenty five of our members are New York State
Emergency Medical Technicians.
Recognizing a need in Sullivan County, we have also formed a
specialized Trench Rescue Team (TRT). Our TRT is ready to and has responded to
collapse calls in various areas of Sullivan County as well as assisting our
sister TRTs, Goshen FD and Mechanicstown FD in Orange County.
The Monticello Fire Department
has been proudly protecting our community for 133 years and
will continue to provide dedicated service to the people of
our community.
